While crews were preparing a well cooked dinner for the evening meal, Company 5 along with an Engine from Company 8 (Pleasant Gap) were dispatched to the 3500 Block of E. College Ave in College Township for the reported fire in the rear of an industrial complex. Engine 510, Truck 516, Rescue 518 and Command 5 responded on the run within a minute of initial dispatch. Engine 510 arrived on scene along with Engine 810 to a large industrial complex with nothing showing. By standers and police advised incoming units to make their way to the rear of the building. The crew from 510 pulled a 200’ 1 ¾” pre-connect to find a contents fire located inside the rear of the building. Crews quickly knocked down the bulk of fire. 810, 516 and 518 assisted in ventilation efforts due to the size of the building. The run was scaled back to the engine after ventilation to assist the fire marshal.

At 0600 this morning Company 5 was dispatched to the area of mile marker 69 of Interstate 99 for a large vehicle fire. Within minutes Engine 510, 512, 514, Tanker 520, Rescue 518, Command 5 and multiple fire police units responded on the run. Fire Director 5500 arrived on scene to the corrected address of the 3000 block of North Atherton Street with an approximately 8000 gallon tractor trailer hauling gasoline that rolled over and was fully engulfed. Engine 514 laid its entire hose bed securing the scene’s water supply. Multiple agencies were dispatched including Penn State Hazmat, PennDot, PSP and EMA. In a multiagency coordination effort, command decided, with the weather cooperating, to allow the gasoline to burn off. This minimized environmental pollution. Once the fire significantly decreased in size, crews extinguished what was left and were placed available.
