Busy Afternoon for Fire Police - Alpha Fire Company

Total Time On Call: 3 hours
Units Responding: Fire Police Units 536 and 537; Utility 521
Officer In Charge: Fire Police Captain 570

Just before Noon on Thursday, February 21st, a traffic accident at the intersection of East College Avenue and Houserville Road took out the traffic signal causing major traffic problems at the busy College Township intersection. Alpha Fire Police assisted with traffic control while township staff attempted to repair the signal. While Fire Police worked the intersection, an unrelated power outage caused traffic signals on the South Atherton Street corridoor to be out. Approximately eight signals between State College Borough and Harris Township were inoperable for two hours. Alpha Fire Police managed several of the busy intersections while public works crews placed portable stop signs and connected generators.
