Written by Jason Troup
October 18, 2006

Beginning at 19:56 hrs. the Alpha's were alerted to 3 different calls in our coverage area.  The first call was for a Carbon Monoxide alarm with patients at 129 Edith St. in Ferguson Township.  Engine 510 and Rescue 518 handled that call.  This box was placed available at 20:16 hrs.

At 20:00 hrs. the company was dispatched to 222 W. Beaver Ave. in the borough for an inside investigation.  Engine 514 handled and was quickly placed available and diverted by command to the accident because State College Police were on scene with burnt food and no need for the fire department.  This call was placed available at 20:10 hrs.

At 20:01 hrs. the 3rd call in our district came in for a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries at the intersection of W. Gatesburg Rd. and Tadpole Rd.  Engine 1510 (Port Matilda) helped cover that call for us.  Engine 514 also responded to that call after they were placed available from the 222 W. Beaver Ave. call.  Assistant Chief DeArmitt arrived on scene of the accident and advised of no injuries and no need for the fire company and placed the box available.  Thanks to Port Matilda for their help with this call.

Dumpster Fire Causes Evacuation
Written by Jason Troup
October 15, 2006

Tonight the company was dispatched to 255 E. Beaver Ave. for a building fire.  As units were responding they were advised of a dumpster fire in the "basement" and the building filling with smoke.  Engine 510 arrived on scene with a working dumpster fire, the dumpster was located in the lower parking deck area.  Crews from Truck 516, Engine 514, and Engine 512, all assisted with evacuation and ventilation of the building.  The heavy amounts of smoke in the building was caused by the trash chute.  There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

While on this call the company received an additional alarm for an automatic fire alarm at the 501 Vairo Blvd.  Thanks to Boalsburg (Engine 310) for taking in that call.
