A rare October winter storm hit the Centre Region bringing 5 inches of snow to the area. With leaves still on the trees and a heavy wet snow falling trees began snapping and taking power lines down with them. The storm caused over 10,000 Allegheny Power customers in Centre County to lose power.
During this time period the Alpha's were dispatched to approximately 40-50 calls. Throughout the night the Alpha's were able to staff 3 engines and respond to all alarms in a timely manner.
