AFA Turned Structure Fire

Early this morning Company 5 was dispatched to 861 Oakridge Ave. for an automatic fire alarm in a dwelling.  As Assistant Chief Triebold was responding he was advised that the alarm company was now receiving multiple alarms in the house, at this time the box was upgraded to a possible structure fire. AFA1

Limerock Terrace Car Fire

At 13:39 hrs. the Alpha's were dispatched to Box 512 in College Township at the 100 Block of Limerock Terrace for a vehicle fire.  Chief S. Clouser (500) responded and was advised of  a passenger car with fire in the passenger compartment.

Dog Rescued from Sink Hole

At 10:25, the Alpha Fire Company was dispatched to Osmond Street and Corl Street, near the Borough's maintenance shed for a dog trapped in a sinkhole. Resources from Company 5 responded to the scene to find a worried pet owner anxious for the return of her dog.

Basic Ropes and Riggings Class Concludes

Today was the last of two days that Firefighters at the Alpha Fire Company spent learning about ropes and low angle rescue techniques. The course is titled Basic Ropes and Riggings, and was offered to Alphas and surrounding departments through the Harrisburg Area Community College. The instructor was Dennis Harris.
