| On April 14, 2007, the company held it's annual awards banquet at The Day's Inn. So the Alpha's could enjoy their evening, the Chief contacted several mutual aid companies and asked if they could provide overnight stand-by crews in Station 5. Special thanks go out to the following companies for their assistance overnight. The Reliance Fire Company of Philipsburg for Engine 1210, the Undine Fire Company of Bellefonte for Truck 217, the Pleasant Gap Fire Company for Engine/Rescue 814 and the Boalsburg Fire Company for Rescue 318. The crews responded to one incident, a vehicle accident with entrapment on Rte. 550. This is a great example of the brotherhood and fellowship that we are so proud of in the volunteer fire service. Thanks again to the departments and their municipalities for assisting us with this matter. |

This evening the fire company was dispatched E. Branch Rd. in College Township for a 3rd party report of a chimney fire. The caller stated there was a large amount of smoke coming from the chimney. State College PD arrived on scene first and knocked the fire down, however, still requested that fire department continue their response.
Upon arrival of Assistant Chief DeArmitt there was only light smoke coming from the chimney area. The response was held to Engine 514 and Truck 517. The truck company laddered the roof to examine the chimney while the engine crew went interior to extinguish the remaining fire in the wood stove. Upon further examination it was determined that the cause was due to a build up of soot and creosote in the chimney area. The homeowner was advised not to relite the stove until it was extensively cleaned.
