| This morning at 1:50 AM Tanker 519 and Tanker 520 were dispatched to 1135 Valley View Road in Benner Township for a working dwelling fire. Both tankers responded on the call with 4 volunteers. Minutes later Engine 510 was special requested to scene for man power. The tankers arrived on scene to a 2 story unoccupied dwelling with smoke still showing and assisted in water supply operations. E-510 responded on the run with 6. E-510 acting as a squad arrived on scene and split its crew. The exterior crew performed a 360 of the dwelling while 2 members went to the roof to perform vertical ventilation. The interior crew went to work opening up the ceilings and walls to check for extension where they encountered fire throughout. Once the fire was put under control the tankers were released. E-510 operated on scene for 2 hours before returning home. While at the fire Co. 5 handled an additional call in State College borough. |

Today at 14:19, Company 5 was dispatched for a kitchen on fire at 728 W College Ave. Within minutes Engine 510, Truck 516,Rescue 518 and Chief 503 responded on the call with 15 volunteers. E-510 arrived on scene with light smoke showing side A “alpha”. The crew quickly made their way into the kitchen and extinguished a stove on fire. Chief 503 held the incident to E-510 and T-516. Crews operated on scene for approximately 25 minutes.
Shortly after the units backed into quarters Centre County alerted Company 5 for a motor vehicle accident with rollover. Rescue 518 and 318, Engine 510, Engine 513, Engine 514, and Chief 503 responded on the call. R-518 and E-510 arrived on scene to a 2 vehicle accident with 7 patients. R-518 advised there was no entrapment. At that time, Chief 503 returned E-513 and diverted E-514 to stand by at the main station. Rescue crew members quickly went to work assessing patients. E-510 stood by for any fire suppression needs. Other crew members assisted EMS and checked for hazards. Units cleared the scene at 15:53.

At 10:38 AM Company 5 was dispatche to 400 Glenn Rd. in the College Heights neighborhood for a reported dwelling fire. The caller was reporting smoke coming from the eaves of the house. Engine 510 quickly responded on the call and arrived to find a single story home with smoke showing. The crew from Engine 510 forced entry to the home to find a smoke condition with a small fire on the stove top. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews from Engine 510 and Truck 517 began ventilation of the house.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

| Today at 09:10 Company 5 was dispatched for a vehicle fire at 120 E. Clinton Ave. Engine 510, Rescue 518, Fire police 536, and Assistant Chief J. Martin (502) responded on the call with 9 volunteers. E-510 arrived on scene and a reported a fully involved pick up truck on fire. The crew pulled a 200’ 1 3/4” pre-connect due to the location of the vehicle and had the fire quickly knocked down. Crews operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes. |

| Pierce Manufacturing has completed the construction of our new 75 foot Quint Apparatus. Quint 527 is currently in transport to our local Pierce Dealer, Tyler Fire Equipment in Elmira, New York so that portable equipment can be installed. A brief rundown of the apparatus include: Pierce Arrow XT chassis with seating for six, a 515 HP Detroit Series 60 motor, Allison EVS 4000 Transmission, 15 KW Hydraulic Generator. 75 foot Aluminum Aerial with Controls at the Tip, as well as a Standpipe Connection. The unit also features a 1500 GPM Pump a 500 Gallon Water Tank and a Class A foam system. The Quint will carry 1000 feet of supply line, multiple preconnected hand lines and two Hurst tools. The Quint is expected to arrive in State College on August 27, 2010. |
