Each year the State College Spikes baseball team hosts a Splash Day during an afternoon game. This year was no different and the Alpaha's once again were pleased to have the opportunity to participate.
Truck 516 was on hand to provide a water spray for the kids zone and we had the chance to set up our recruitment display.
All in attendance had a great time. The Spikes took on the Vermont Lake Monsters. Vermont beat the Spikes 3-1.

| Alphas 'Run for Fun' |
On Memorial Day several Alphas ran in the annual Boalsburg 'Run for Fun'. Some even wore their turnout gear! Despite 80 degree temperatures and high humitidy everyone finished the race, had a lot of fun, and alerted everyone to the upcoming 'Combat Challenge.' Photos are available in the web albums.

The Alpha Fire Co. Aerialscope (the first in the fleet that was an automatic transmission) that was in service from 1975-2008 (Alpha Fire Company), was driven to Pierce to be rechassied in January 2009. In June 2009 Rick James had the old chassis hauled back to Pennsylvania and over the winter, January 2010-March 2010, a correct boom and jacks were placed back on it. The unit was then sent to the body shop for touch up and it returned to the State College area on April 13, 2010.
When the unit was first purchased it was driven to the station for the 1st time when it was new from the Harrisburg Mack branch in the fall of 1975, its original cost was $145,692.00. |
