Two members of the Alpha Fire Company Special Fire Police recently received certification under a State program.  Robert Donald and Ron Witmer attended the program at Lancaster County Fire Academy and after a battery of written and practical tests received the Pennsylvania State Fire Police 1 Certification. As far as Company officials know these are the first officers certified to this level in Centre County.

The Special Fire Police provide traffic control, crowd control, and scene security at incidents.  Additionally, they are often called out to supplement the local police departments where police staffing levels are insufficient for the situation at hand.  Fire police are often the first to arrive at a scene and the last to leave.  Their service is invaluable to the Alpha Fire Company and the citizens of the Centre Region.
