WEEKLY UPDATE:
CONTRACT 2006-C5 SCIENCE PARK ROAD WIDENING AND OLD
GATESBURG TRAFFIC SIGNAL:

SCIENCE PARK ROAD IS OPEN – EXPECT DELAYS

Work crews will be off the roadway around 11:00 AM on Friday, October 20th. No
work will be conducted over the weekend.

Work will resume Monday, October 23rd on Science Park Rd and Gatesburg Rd.

Weather conditions and contractual issues prevented crews from paving this
week. Crews are expected to begin paving the roadway Monday, October 23rd
and continue through Wednesday, weather permitting.

Monday through Wednesday the paving operations will require a single
lane closure and driveway entrance restrictions. Extended delays of
approximately 30 minutes should be expected.

The current paving schedule:

Monday – place thin layer of asphalt over the entire road, half the width of the
road at a time.

Tuesday – place the final wearing course on the east half of Science Park Rd.

Wednesday – place the final wearing course on the west half of Science Park
Rd. and both sides of Gatesburg Rd, time permitting.

Thursday – paving tie-ins at the Sandy Dr intersections and driveway tie-ins.

Crews are also expected to finish paving the remainder of the bike path by
Friday, October 27th.

Crews will also be placing new sidewalk and topsoil at locations that do not
conflict with paving operations.

Science Park road is currently open to traffic in both directions. Motorists that do
not reside on Science Park Road or are not doing business on Science Park
Road are encouraged to use the posted detour route.

MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO TURN ON THEIR HEADLIGHTS IN THE
WORK ZONE.

The Township and its contractor are working diligently to construct a quality
public improvement project within budget and on schedule. Your patience is
requested since this public improvement project cannot be completed without
inconvenience and delays to traffic. The Township and its contractor are
sensitive to the needs of local business and are doing our best to get this job
completed. While the Township and its contractor are taking steps to minimize
impacts during construction, we appreciate you considering what measures you
can implement to accommodate the project for this construction season.
