The Alphas and the Citizens of Centre Region received an early Holiday
present with the completion of the Department's new Engine Rescue.
The new apparatus is a 2005 Pierce Dash. The new unit features seating
for 6, Tak-4 Independent Front Suspension, Detroit Series 60 motor, an
Allison EVS 4000 automatic transmission. The unit carries 750 Gallons
of water and 15 Gallons of Class A foam with 6 preconnected hose lines
and is capable of pumping in excess of 1500 gallons of water a minute
and 12 gallons of foam per minute. The new unit is equipped with a 15kw
hydraulic generator which powers the unit's 7500 watts of fixed and
portable scene lighting along with two preconnected Hurst "Jaws of
Life" rescue tools to name but a few of the unit's features. The
addition of Engine/Rescue 510 to the Alphas Emergency Service fleet
will enable the Alphas to provide Fire and Rescue capabilities at all
three stations and on all single unit responses.
