| This afternoon at 12:42 PM the Alpha Fire Co. was dispatched to 131 Quincy Ave. in College Township for a reported working garage fire, with the garage attached to the house. |

Chief Stan Clouser (500) arrived on scene first and advised that the fire had been knocked down in the garage but crews were needed to check for extension.
Engine 510 arrived and checked for extension and found nothing. The fire had been contained to a small area in the garage.
The fire was first thought to have been started by a small child playing with matches, however, it was later determined that the child had actually discovered the fire and ran to tell his Mom about it.
It was determined the fire started as result of cigarette butts being put in a cardboard box after they were believed to be completely out. The fire is considered accidental in nature.
Apparatus cleared the scene at 1:09 PM with Chief Clouser remaining on scene for investigative purposes until 2:28 PM.
