At 12:45 PM the fire company was dispatched to 100 Patton Plaza, next door to our Patton Township sub-station, for vehicle fire near the entrance to the police station.  Engine 514 went responding and quickly arrived on scene to find a passenger car with active fire in the engine compartment. dcp_0954

Prior to the arrival of fire apparatus Patton Township Police Officers were able to keep the fire in check using dry chemical extinguishers.  When the engine arrived the fire was quickly extinguished and the fire was contained to the engine compartment.

Rescue 518 arrived on scene and relieved the engine crew and assisted with overhaul.  The incident was placed under control at 1:04 PM.

The vehicle was an unmarked Patton Township Police cruiser.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire department was placed available at 1:11 PM.
