Chief S. Clouser arrived on scene next and assumed E. College command. Rescue 518 arrived and began extrication of the patient. EMS requested a helicopter to the scene and command requested another engine and diverted Engine 510 to the landing zone.
The helicopter was unable to fly due to weather conditions and the patient was transported to Mt. Nittany Medical Center with a police escort.
The car involved lost control and struck a utility pole, nearly snapping it in half, and badly damaging the driver's side of the vehicle.
The cause of the accident is not yet known and is being investigated by the State College Police.
