With the arrival of the new Rescue 518, the rescue company has moved towards a fire/rescue company. Equipping the rescue with many of the tools necessary to perform structure fire rescue, forcible entry, ventilation, rapid intervention, rope rescue, some technical rescues, basic life support, and many other functions. The Rescue Company is preparing to certify through the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Rescue 518 can carry up to 8 crew members, including the chauffer.

The Rescue is a Saulsbury Cougar Series Rescue on a Spartan Gladiator Long four-door Chassis with a 370 HP Detroit Series 60 Diesel, Allison HD-4060P Automatic Transmission. The body is an 18 ft Cougar Rescue Body constructed of 12-gauge type 304 stainless steel with Robinson roll-up compartment doors. It features include a 25,000 Watt Onan PTO drive generator, Permanent recessed side mounted 500 Watt quartz floodlights, Will-Burt Nigh-Scan with pan and tilt feature and four 1500 Watt quartz floodlights, two Hannay electric cable reels, four hydraulic reels, air cylinder fill station, four cylinder on-board air cascade system, low pressure air hose reels, 12,000 lb front electric winch, upper and under body storage compartments, and custom designed exterior side compartments. Each member has a different seating assignment depending on the call. The Rescue Company responds on all fire and rescue boxes in the Centre Region.
