| At approximately 1:30 AM the Alpha Fire Co. was dispatched to the 100 Block of Pine Grove Rd. for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Ferguson Township Police arrived on scene first and confirmed entrapment with one patient with a weak pulse. |

3rd Assistant Chief DeArmitt (503) arrived on scene and assumed the role of operations officer. As Rescue 518 was enroute he advised them that a full extrication would be needed. He also requested that a helicopter to the scene.
1st Assistant Chief Triebold (501) arrived and took command of the incident. Rescue 518 arrived and began extrication of the patient. Engine 514 dropped half its crew at the scene and proceeded to the landing zone.
Engine 512 was requested to set up a handline for protection.
Due to extensive entanglement of the patient it took nearly 40 minutes for crews to extricate.
The patient was transported to the landing zone via Centre LifeLink EMS where he was flown by Geisinger LifeFlight to Altoona Hospital.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, however, alcohol is believed to be a factor.
