At 1626 hours Company 5 was dispatched to the Thomas Building on the Penn State University Park Campus for a Specialized Rescue.  Assistant Chief 504 (Yocum) and Engine 510, on the road returning from a CO alarm responded promptly from Downtown State College. Rescue 518 responded shortly thereafter. Crews arrived to find a patient on the 5th floor with their hand entangled in a paper shredding machine.  The patient was extricated with work from 510's crew, Captain 593 (Bittner), members of the Penn State Special Response Team (Unit 2022), and Penn State EMS and Police.
