In the early afternoon Company 5 was dispatched for a grass fire at the intersection of West College Avenue & Science Park Road in Ferguson Township. The police department arrived on scene and reported about a 10 by 20 foot section of grass burning along the turning lane from South Science Park onto West College Ave.

Engine 510 responded with new Fire Director as officer. Upon arrival, Engine 510’s crew
found a slow moving grass fire that had burned about 200 square feet of hill side. The crew stretched the front bumper line and extinguished the fire.
Fire Police limited traffic to this part of the intersection while crews operated along the roadway. Captain 591 (Dale) established command.
Crews operated at the scene for about 20 minutes.
