Shortly after 0900 Company 5 was dispatched to 222 W Beaver Ave for a Building Fire with reports of heavy smoke coming from the roof.  Captain Kuchmay (595) and Engine 510 responded shortly afterward and arrived on scene with blackened windows and smoke coming from the vents of a single story restaurant.   101_0268_large

Captain Kuchmay established command while crews from 510 forced entry via the front door and advanced a hoseline into the kitchen area with heavy smoke conditions and near zero visibility. As the line advanced the Truck crew and remaining Engine crew accessed the roof and performed ventilation.

Due to the significant smoke coming from the structure, the exposure apartment building was evacuated.

The fire had burned for an extended time prior to dispatch and at this time is believed to be accidental in nature.

Company 5 and Company 3 fire police had Beaver Ave shut down for nearly 2 hours until operations and  investigation was completed.
