| While units were operating at the MVA on Easterly Parkway and Engine 514 was standing by for additional calls at the Main Station, the company was dispatched to 234 E. Beaver Ave. in the Borough for a building fire at 3:46 AM. The caller stated that they had woke up to a smoke detector sounding and fire in the bedroom. Engine 514 responded immediately and arrived on scene within 2 minutes of dispatch and confirmed a working fire. |

The crew from Engine 514 entered the structure and began evacuation. Upon reaching the 2nd division the crew encountered a very light smoke condition. Once the crew located the fire room to begin primary search the crew opened the bedroom door and encounted a heavier smoke condition, as the door opened a male occupant began coughing and the crew hit the small amount of fire on the futon with a pressurized water can and removed the victim from the room.
As the victim was being removed additional crews from Rescue 518, Engine 510, and Truck 516 were stretching a handline to the fire room and knocked down the remainder of the fire, finished the primary search, and performed overhaul operations.
Also assisting at the scene was the Boalsburg Fire Co.
Units operated on scene until approximately 5:41 AM.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State College Police Department.
