This weekend, the engine and truck companies traveled to the Centre County Training site to conduct the final modules and evaluations for the in-house PERT program.  Crews spent a majority of the day on Saturday doing static evolutions to hone and finalize engine and truck skills. The engine set up multiple stations that included pre-connected hose line deployment, hydrant and break operations, as well as LDH and master stream operations.

The truck conducted similar training with their stations consisting of ladder placement, Vent Enter Search, and patient rescue from upper floors.  Truck crews then spent the afternoon conducting searches utilizing the skills they learned in the search and rescue module of Truck PERT.

On Sunday, engine and truck crews again traveled to the training site for evaluation day.  This was the final evaluation and check off for the engine crews.  The day was filled with scenarios that Company 5 typical responds to.  Crews were dispatched to several different calls which included automatic fire alarms, burnt food, and building fires with entrapment.

Thanks to everyone that participated and helped out.  Special thanks to Lock Haven Engine 1-1 and Bellefonte Truck 216 who stood by at station 5 on Saturday to cover while crews and apparatus were out for training.  Thanks to Pleasant Gap EMS for standing by and handling firefighter rehab during Sundays evolutions.

PERT is designed to give members a unique learning environment that builds skills, confidence, and Teamwork.  This class did a great job in achieving all of these objectives.  Congratulations to the Engine PERT class, job well done.
