May 15, 2008 For Immediate Release State College: The Jaycees of State College Area have recognized Alpha Firefighter Kenneth Peters for outstanding community service at their annual recognition event held on May 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Firefighter Peters was nominated by the Alpha Fire Company to receive this award in recognition of his numerous contributions to the company. Peters is an 8 year veteran of the company and serves as the company’s Financial Secretary. He is a consistently a leader in training participation, bunks in an evening each week, and is among the most active driver/operators. Alpha Fire Chief Stanley Clouser said that the company was very pleased to have Firefighter Peters recognized by the Jaycees, and added “dedicated people such as Kenny Peters are essential to the viability of our volunteer fire department.” The Alpha Fire Company provides fire, rescue, and related services to the College, Ferguson, and Patton Townships, the Borough of State College, and Penn State’s University Park Campus.
