At approximately 6:00AM the Alpha Fire Company of State College, PA was dispatched to the intersection of North Atherton Street and Vairo Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

Patton Township Police were already on scene and were requesting the fire department to remove the driver's side door.

Fire department personnel arrived on scene to find a passenger car that had been struck on the drivers side by another vehicle.  The driver of the passenger car was entrapped in the vehicle.  Crews began removing the door with the jaws of life so that the driver could be removed from the vehicle.

Once the driver was removed, she was then transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Centre LifeLink EMS.

During the incident Atherton Street was closed to one lane in both the southbound and northbound directions. 

Fire department personnel operated at the scene for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
