At 1015 the Alpha Fire Company was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with roll-over and entrapment. Dispatch informed responding units that the vehicle involved was a police cruiser, and the officer had suffered injuries.

Within 5 minutes of the initial dispatch, Rescue 518 and Engine 510 went responding with a total staffing of 10. Engine 514 responded from the Patton Township station to provide additional manpower and scene support.

Upon arriving on scene, crews from Rescue 518 immediately went to work by first stabilizing the vehicle, and controlling hazards. Then, using hydraulic rescue tools, cuts were made that allowed the firefighters to spread the dashboard away from the patient in order to free his entangled feet and legs.

Once freed from the wreckage, the Officer was loaded into an awaiting EMS unit, and was transported to a regional hospital for treatment.

The Officer was responding to an emergency call following a recent downpour of rain.
