At 1215 the Alpha Fire Company was dispatched for a gas leak outside near the new Geisinger Medical Center in Grey's Woods. The leak occurred when a worker struck a gas line while boring holes using a Bobcat. Engine 510 and Rescue 518 responded shortly after dispatch, and arrived on scene to find an active gas leak. Due to the proximity of the Medical Center to the Patton PD MVA, an alternate route was taken.

Crews secured the scene, and ensured that the Medical Center was free from potentially hazardous gases. Columbia Gas was notified, and arrived on scene to control the leak.
