At approximately 1220 hours on Wednesday, July 9, Alpha was dispatched to the Centre County Solid Waste Authority transfer station for a reported hazmat. Chief Clouser (500) requested Penn State Hazmat while enroute to the scene and Company 8 (Pleasant Gap) to replace Alpha units who were tied up with other calls. Shorty after his arrival, Chief Clouser was notified by CCSWA personnel that the hazard appeared to be hydrated lime and a smoldering fire in the main transfer building. This report was based upon a large quantity of discarded cement and lime bags in the trash load.  After an assessment by PSU Hazmat, the incident was determined to be a simple garbage fire which was then extinguished. Units cleared at approximately 1400 hours.
