At approximately 1 AM the Alpha Fire Company of State College, PA was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment and 3 patients at the intersection of West College Avenue and South Buckhout Street in the Borough of State College.

Reports from the scene stated that police department personnel were already on scene with entrapment.  Rescue 518 and Engine 510 responded within minutes of the dispatch.  Units arrived on scene to find a passenger car that had gone off the road and struck a house.  The car had 3 occupants, 2 trapped with 1 walking wounded.

Chief S. Clouser (500) assumed command of the incident and requested a helicopter be placed on stand-by.  At this time Engine 514 was requested to the scene at a non-emergency rate for a possible landing zone.  While enroute command cancelled the helicopter stand-by, as EMS advised it was no longer needed. Command also requested that Engine 514 upgrade its response to emergency status for manpower to assist with extrication of the driver.

Chief Clouser also requested a representative from the Centre Region Code office come to the scene because the home that had been struck had suffered severe damage and had been potentially moved off its foundation.  The vehicle had struck the home with such force that bricks on the opposite side of the house had been knocked off the wall.

The home was evacuated and the occupants are unable to return until further investigation could be done to determine structural stability of the home.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the State College Police Department.

Units responding to the scene were Rescue 518, Engine 510 and 514, Fire Police 536, Command 534, State College Police, and EMS units from Centre LifeLink and Bellefonte.
