Just before 2PM the Alpha Fire Company was dispatched to a building fire at 307 W. Hamilton Ave.  Initial reports from the caller indicated an alarm sounding with the smell of smoke.  State College Police arrived on scene first to find heavy smoke and fire from windows of a first floor apartment. Upon hearing the report from police personnel Chief S. Clouser (500) upgraded the assignment to a 2nd alarm.

Upon arrival Engine 510 established a water supply and stretched an 1 3/4" handline into the structure.  The crew from Truck 516 began horizontal ventilation while members from Truck 517 performed a primary search of the structure.

Engine 514 arrived on scene and established a secondary water supply while the crew from Engine 513 stretched a second handline into the building.

Engine 310 from Boalsburg established a RIT team and Rescue 518 set-up rehab and personnel staging.

A quick knockdown of the fire was made and contained the fire to a single apartment.  Surrounding apartments did sustain some smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Centre Region Fire Marshal and the State College Police department.

All occupants of the building were either not home or were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
