At approximately 21:40 hours on Sunday, January 4, Alphas were dispatched automatic mutual aid to Halfmoon Township for a chimney fire with possible extension. Truck 516, Engine 514, and Tanker 520 and Tanker 519 responded quickly. Alpha 579 (Harpster) arrived on scene and reported a working fire: fire in an exterior wall and the residence filling with smoke. Engine 514 arrived shortly thereafter, followed quickly by Truck 516, Tanker 520, Engine 1510, and Tanker 519. The Engine crew started to open the wall from the exterior, while the Truck crew split going to the roof and interior to check extension. After several attempts to get to the seat of the fire with limited destruction, the decision was made to remove the stone hearth and facing whereupon the bulk of the fire was located and extinguished. Warriors Mark, and Port Matilda EMS also responded. Units returned to service at approximately 1:03 hours.
