At approximately 12:30 AM the Alpha Fire Co. was dispatched to a building fire at 1550 S. Atherton St.  The initial call reported a white smoke coming from the building located next to Ruby Tuesday's restaurant.  As units were responding they were advised of multiple calls reporting flames visible.

Assistant Chief N. Kuchmay (502) responded to the scene and arrived first to find a commercial structure with flames through roof and requested that a second alarm be dispatched and special requested a third truck from the Undines in Bellefonte.

The fire gutted the center of the structure causing the roof to collapse.  Each end of the structure sustained heavy smoke and water damage.  The actual address of the fire was 1525 Science St. and was the home to Heritage Realty.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Alpha Fire Co. was assisted at the scene by units from Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap, and Bellefonte (Undine) fire companies.

Thanks to Reliance Fire Co. of Philipsburg (Truck 1216) and Logan Fire Co. of Bellefonte (Engine/Rescue 114) for transfering to Station 5 and standing by in the centre region during the incident.
