Today the Alpha Fire Co. was alerted to a dump truck on fire on Park Ave. in the area of Beaver Stadium. As units were responding the Centre County 911 center advised of multiple calls reporting a working fire.
Once units arrived on scene they found a dump truck with a well involved cab. The crew from Engine 510 stretched a 1 3/4" handline for extinguishment. The engine also hooked into a nearby hydrant in case more water would be needed.
The crew made a quick knockdown of the fire and they were assisted by the crews from Rescue 518 and Engine 514 with overhaul.
The fire closed this section of Park Ave for about 1 hour.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State College Police Department.
