| At approximately 12:43 hours on Wednesday March 25, CCECC received several calls reporting a fast moving brush fire to the rear of 1420 Benner Pike. Chief 503 (Martin) responded immediately and upon receiving updates enroute to the scene, added two brush units and an additional tanker to the box. Chief 500 (Clouser) arrived on scene and established command, reporting a fast moving fire of 100 X 30 feet and SCI Rockview personnel working the fire line. Engine 510, Tanker 520, and Rescue 518 were deployed to the address to protect the Verizon cable yard and nearby exposures while Brush 825 (Pleasant Gap) and Brush 325 (Boalsburg) were deployed to the eastern flank to assist Rockview. Remaining units staged off Benner Pike. A high voltage power line support was actively involved in fire prompting Allegheny Power to the scene. The total fire area was 300 X 35 in fence line brush and open field. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. |
