At approximately 5:00 PM the Alpha's were dispatched to the 4000 Blk of N Atherton St in the area of Maternville School for a vehicle accident with injuries and fire.  Engine 510, 514 and Rescue 518 quickly responded to the incident.  Assistant Chief S. Kauffman (504) arrived on scene first and reported 1 vehicle into a tree with no fire.

Engine 514 was assigned as a blocking vehicle to help with traffic control.  Engine 510 and Rescue 518 staged near the scene to assist with patient removal, if necessary.

Unfortunately, the occupant of the vehicle was deceased upon arrival of all fire units.  The accident is under investigation by Patton Township Police and appears to have been caused by a deer that had been struck by a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

Units on Scene:  Engine 510, 514, Rescue 518, Fire Police 536, Patton Township PD, Centre LifeLink EMS, Centre County Coroner
In Command: Assistant Chief S. Kauffman (504)
