Engine 512 arrived on scene first and reported 1 vehicle into a tree with 2 patients trapped. They advised that they were beginning vehicle stabilization and Lt. S. Lesak (595) assumed command.
Rescue 518 arrived shortly after 512 and began extrication of the patients. Engine 514 arrived as crews were completeing extrication of the first patient. The crew from 514 was advised to stretch a 1 3/4" protection line from engine 512 and stand-by.
As crews began extrication of the second patient, the scale of the incident escalated. To remove the second patient a full extrication on the vehicle had to be performed. Crews began removing the windshield, roof, both passenger side doors, and the "B" post on the passenger side. Due to the older age of the vehicle this proved to be challenging, however, crews were able to successfully complete extrication of the second patient.
Both patients were transported to Mt. Nittany Medical Center by Centre LifeLink EMS.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Ferguson Township Police.
