On Monday evening, February 22 a well attended open house ushered in the grand opening of the newly remodeled College Township Station. Since 2003 the company has responded an engine from the lower level of the township municipal building; space that formerly housed the township’s public works garage. The township had been working on a phased fit-out plan for the fire company that would have been completed sometime in 2014. In April 2007, the company approached the township seeking acceleration of the fit-out. The township incorporated the fit-out into a long-term cost improvement plan for the entire municipal building and launched the project in the spring of 2009. The result is a live-in fire station with four live-in rooms, six non live-in beds, a full kitchen, and a lounge area. The live-in spaces were occupied on February 24.
