| At 12:23 AM Company 5 was dispatched for a reported building on fire at the Nittany Mall. Engine 510 with a crew of 6 was on the street in a minute with reports of a trash can on fire filling the maintenance shop with smoke. Assistant Chief R. Kurzinger (502) arrived on scene with heavy smoke pushing from side A, and visible fire from inside the building and requested a 2nd alarm for manpower. Engine 510 arrived shortly after and layed their own line to side A, split crews pulling a 200ft 1 ¾ hand line to the fire room, threw ladders, and made access to the roof if needed. Engine 810 (Pleasant Gap) arrived and assisted 510 with opening up and roof ops. Engine 514, Quint 527, and Tower Ladder 517 arrived in sequence and assisted initial companies with ventilation and overhaul. Once the incident was under control command scaled back the incident to 1 engine to assist the fire marshal on scene. Units cleared around 2:55 AM. |
