At approximately 01:15 hrs. this morning Company 5 was dispatched to Box 554 in Ferguson Township for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries with one vehicle over an embankment, upside down in a stream in the 6300 Block of W. Whitehall Rd.

Shortly after Second Assistant Chief Brown (502) went responding communications advised of an additional report now stating that there was one patient entrapped in the vehicle and unresponsive.  Assistant Chief Brown upgraded the box to an accident with entrapment which brought Rescue 1518 from Port Matilda.  Fire police arrived on scene first and confirmed entrapment.  Shortly after fire police, Ferguson Township police arrived on scene entered the stream and began attempting to gain access to the patient.  Rescue 518 arrived on scene and gained access through the passenger side door.  A rapid extrication was then performed due to the fact that the patients head was under water.  EMS assessed the patient and  transported them to Mt. Nittany Medical Center.  The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Ferguson Township Police Department. 41346
