The
Alphas were dispatched to a fire investigation at Jo-Ann Fabrics on the
Benner Pike with an order of burning electrical wires and power out to
half the store.
Soon after, units were alerted
to the problem spreading to other stores within the shopping center.
Chief Clouser (500) established command and had engine 510 investigate
the lighting fixtures in the store and power supply while truck 517's
crew made access to the roof and investigated the HVAC units and the
adjacent structures. Engine 514 staged at the nearest water
supply. The cause was determined to be overheating electrical
components which was caused by an electrical phase reduction due to a
faulty incoming power line. Appropriate power was terminated and the
electrical company notified
