| This afternoon at 13:50 hrs. Company 5 was dispatched to the 100 Block of S. Water St. in Pine Grove Mills at Kline's Garage for a building fire with explosion and possible entrapment. Ferguson Township Police arrived on scene first and advised that there was no fire, however, there was entrapment from a box truck that had been traveling down the mountain and gone through the structure. |

The patient was trapped under a conversion van that was being worked on at the time of the accident. The patient, unfortunately, was determined to be deceased upon arrival.
The building was deemed structurally unsafe and all personnel were banned from entering the structure and a collapse zone was established. When the police were completed with their investigation the OK was given to extricate the victim from the structure. At this time Captain C. Prestia donned a Class 3 harness with a life line attached and entered the structure to clear debris and make a path to the patient. Valley Truck and Trailer was on scene with their heavy wrecker and they advanced the boom on the wrecker into the structure and hooked onto the van and lifted the van off the patient. At this time the patient was removed from the structure.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Ferguson Township Police, Patton Township Police, and Pennsylvania State Police.
The box was placed available at approximately 20:00 hrs.
Special thanks to the following for their help on scene: Valley Truck and Trailer, PennDOT, Alleghany Power, Verizon, and Adelphia. Thanks to McDonald's for providing food.
