Rescue 518

The Alpha's Rescue Company is primarily comprised of Rescue 518, however Engines 510, 512, and 514 are all equipped with hydraulic tools, basic vehicle stabilization, and fluid control equipment. They're available to Alpha responders to provide quick access when necessary, or to provide a secondary level of equipment readiness.

Rescue 518 is affectionately referred to as the "big toolbox on wheels". This is because it is stocked full of a wide variety of tools, ranging from common household implements to specialized vehicle stabilization and extrication equipment. These are the tools that allow the Rescue Company's highly skilled and heavily trained emergency personel get the job done, and as such, they're carefully looked after.

Safety is always first. It's for that reason that the Alphas adhere to a regimented schedule of equipment checks and maintanence procedures. The Rescue Company serves as the lead example of this readiness because of the range and depth of tools carried.
At a motor vehicle accident involving patient entrapment, a rescue technician's job is to remove the vehicle from around the patient. This must be done quickly and safely, while limiting collateral damage.
