A number of Alpha and Millheim Fire Company Members completed two
days of training in the Pump Operations I class instructed by State
Fire Instructor Christian Boyd, himself an Alumni member of Alpha.
The
session consisted of both classroom and practical instruction including
calculating appropriate engine discharge pressures and flow
calculations both from hydrant and static supplies. On the first
day of class all students had the opportunity to control a fire engine
pump under booster tank and hydrant supplies.
On
the second day students drafted water from static supplies (portable
tanks). About twenty people participated with a wide range of
experience from chief officers to probationary members.
Certificates of completion will be issued to all students who completed
the class.
