At 21:16 hrs. Company 5 was alerted to Box 512 at N. Atherton St. and Cherry Ln. for a vehicle accident with entrapment.
All units due on the box responded quickly and were on scene within a
matter of minutes. Upon arrival units found a Chevrolet Cavalier off
the road on the side walk with one patient trapped in the passenger
seat. The crew from Engine 514 stabilized the vehicle while the crews
from Rescue 518 and Engine 510 began extrication. Extrication was
completed in approximately 10 minutes and the patient was transported
by Centre LifeLink EMS to the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
The
second vehicle involved in the accident was an Audi, which was located
across the street from the Cavalier. The occupant of the Audi was
uninjured.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Ferguson Township Police.
