Written by Bradley Flubacher
SCIENCE PARK ROAD IS CLOSED – BUSINESS TRAFFIC ONLY

No work is planned for Saturday, June 24th and Sunday, June 25th. Monday,
June 26th and continuing all week, daylight work will continue between the hours
of 7AM and 6PM. Sections of the roadway will be limited to one lane and a 5 to
10 minute wait can be expected as the contractor reconstructs and widens the
roadway. Waterline service tie-ins began Wednesday, June 14th and will continue
throughout this week. Extended traffic delays of 15-20 minutes may be expected
for those tie-ins that require crossing the roadway. Road widening excavation
and storm sewer installation will continue throughout the week on both sides of
Science Park.

Reconstruction of Old Gatesburg Road will begin Monday, June 26th and will be
performed one-half at a time. Paving of reconstructed areas and pipe crossings
and widen areas will begin Tuesday, June 27th and continue into the following
week, weather permitting.

The tentative start for the major excavation between Raytheon and Old
Gatesburg Road is scheduled near the beginning of July. Science Park Road will
be physically closed from Raytheon’s driveway entrance to Old Gatesburg Road.
Raytheon employees and visitors will have access from College Avenue. All
other businesses and residents along Science Park Road and will have to access
from Circleville Road.

Motorists that do not reside on Science Park Road or are not doing business on
Science Park Road are prohibited from this roadway. Local traffic should expect
delays of approximately 15 minutes. ALL THROUGH TRAFFIC MUST FOLLOW
THE SIGNED DETOUR. VIOLATORS MAY RECEIVE CITATIONS.
MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO TURN ON THEIR HEADLIGHTS IN THE
WORK ZONE.

The Township and its contractor are working diligently to construct a quality
public improvement project within budget and on schedule. Your patience is
requested since this public improvement project cannot be completed without
inconvenience and delays to traffic. The Township and its contractor are
sensitive to the needs of local business and are doing our best to get this job
completed. While the Township and its contractor are taking steps to minimize
impacts during construction, we appreciate you considering what measures you
can implement to accommodate the project for this construction season.
