The Alpha Fire Company was paged out for a structure fire at 4:38 AM at 700 W. College Ave. in the Borough of State College.

Police and arriving units found the structure, a 2 1/2 story coversion
unit, well involved on arrival. Captain Kauffman (596) ordered
defensive operations even before the first unit arrived on scene.
Alpha, Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap, and Bellefonte units were called to the
scene. Crews used master streams to knock the fire down. After the
bulk of the fire had been knocked crews from Truck 516 and 216 worked
from their buckets to overhaul the roof area to knock down the
remainder of the fire. Units operated for over 4 hours on the scene.
The
cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is currently under
investigation by the State College Police Department and the State
Police Fire Marshal's office.
There were no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries.
Port Matilda Engine 1510 and Philipsburg Truck 1216 stood by at the Alpha station. |
