| At 13:59 hrs. the Alpha Fire Company was dispatched to the intersection of E. Park Ave. and Orchard Rd. in College Township for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Safety Officer Yocum advised Rescue 518 that upon their arrival they would need to pop the driver's side door and do a roof removal with the possibility of a dash roll. Upon the arrival of Rescue 518, Chief S. Clouser assumed command of the incident and the crew went to work on extrication. Once removing the drivers door it was discovered that a dash roll and roof removal would be unnecessary.
Engine 514 arrived and established a protection line and assisted with the operation.
Engine 511 arrived and established a landing zone on Park Ave. for Geisinger LifeFlight.
The vehicle sustained heavy driver's side damage with extreme passenger compartment penetration.
The patient was transported via Geisinger LifeFlight to the nearest trauma center.
Extrication was completed in approximately 15 mins. Crews and fire police remained on scene to assist with the investigation and traffic control. The box was placed available at 15:23 hrs.
