| This afternoon the Alpha Fire Co. was dispatched to
the Executive House Apartments at 411
Waupelani Dr. in the Borough of State College for
a building fire. |

|
Occupants were reporting a fire in a storage
area on the first floor of the structure. The police arrived just prior
to the fire department and reported heavy smoke throughout the building and
started evacutation. Police were unable to complete evacuation due to the
worsening smoke condition, Captain Kuchmay (595), who was just arriving on
scene, then called for a second alarm. Engine 510 arrived on scene and
stretched the leader line and a high rise pack into the building. The
crew reported heavy smoke with no visible fire. The smoke was worsening
and the fire was tough to locate, the crew did find the storage area and made a
quick knock on the fire. Engine 514 arrived and established water supply
to 510 and then went inside to assist the crews from 510 and Rescue 518.
The fire was contained to the room of origin and there was very little smoke
and water damage outside of that room. The Alpha's were assisted on the
scene by Boalsburg Fire Co. and Pleasant Gap Fire Co., while Engine 111 stood
by at Station 5. Engine 111 and Rescue 318 did run a car fire on Toftrees Ave. while
standing by.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the State College
Police Department.
Thanks to all who assisted! |
