Second Haz-Mat of the Weekend |

| For the second day in a row the Alpha's were alerted to a hazardous materials incident. Today it occurred at 17:57 hrs. at 730 W. Beaver Ave. where there was a mercury spill. The call started out as a chief's call only, upon the arrival of the duty chief, Captain A. Prestia, he confirmed that the substance was mercury and requested that the company and Penn State Haz-Mat be dispatched. |

The complaintant advised that the landlord had been in the basement of the house earlier in the day and had cut a pipe from which an unknown amount of mercury had come out.
Haz-Mat unit 2029 arrived on scene and members donned protective clothing and entered the home and began to clean up the mercury.
Units were on scene until 19:36 hrs.
