SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT GOES AWRY |

| On 08/31/05 at approximately 2335 hrs, the Alpha's were dispatched to
the Cato Park Industrial Complex for the report of a building fire. |

PSU Police were on scene with a heavy smoke condition in the North
American Refractories Building. Chief 501 (Triebold) initially took
command of the incident. Engine 512 arrived on scene and the crew made
entry into the building. Captain 591 (DeArmitt) reported a heavy smoke
condition with visible fire showing upon entry. The crew made quick
work of the fire which was continued to a large wooden box. The box
contained an experiment involving hay and heat distribution.
Additional
responding apparatus to the incident were Engine 514, Truck 517,
Command 5 and Ambulance 25. Crews were on the scene for approximately
two hours.
