Just as crews were getting back in their bunks from the first fire, the bells went off in the station for a reported fire at 900 W College Ave. Engine 510, 512, 514, Trucks 516, 517, Rescue 518, Fire Police and Command responded on the run. Engine 510 laid out making room for the truck to pass and 516 arrived on scene of the corrected address of 1006 W College Ave to a 3 story mixed occupancy with a fully involved one story attached storage area with extension into the basement and first divisions and requested the second alarm struck. 510 arrived on scene and split crews, initially pulling 200’ of 2 ½” off the rear to make their push and a 200’ “leaderline” attached to a high rise pack to go into the basement. Meanwhile 516’s crew threw multiple ground ladders, forced many doors and ventilated. The can man held the fire on division one in check while the rest of the crew performed primary searches. Engine 512 laid in from a secondary water supply and pulled a 200’ 1 ¾” cross lay to division one to extinguish the extension. Truck 517 arrived shortly thereafter and performed a secondary search of the building and assisted in opening up in the basement division. Engine 514’s crew relieved the first in crews. Crews operated on scene for approximately 3 hours.
