At approximately 05:00, the Alpha’s were awoken to respond for a reported chimney fire in a cabin with possible extension at 655 Heratige Trail Road. Engine 510 and Truck 516 went responding in minutes with 11 volunteers. While enroute, county notified the Alphas of a working cabin fire. Chief 502 arrived on scene first to a 2 story single family dwelling with smoke pushing from the first and second floor windows. Engine 510 arrived on scene a minute later with fire showing from side D. FF Bowersox and FF Gottsch stretched the initial 1.75” attack line through the front door encountering fire on the first and second floor, as well as exploding ammunition. Truck 516 arrived on scene; splitting the crews. The interior crew pulled a second line and went to work on the first floor, performed suppression efforts, horizontally ventilated and checked for extension while the initial Engine continued to make progress on the second floor. The exterior truck crew threw multiple ground ladders, secured utilities and went to the roof for vertical ventilation. Congratulations to FF Francis on his first roof cut with Alpha. Tanker 520 arrived moments behind 510 and secured 510’s water supply. Other incoming units assisted the initial crews with extensive overhaul and checked for additional extension. Units were on scene for approximately 4 hours before returning to service.
